Start Breaks Automatically

You want to give your eyes and body the rest they need, but you don't want to interrupt your focus. With that goal in mind, EyesTrain will show a subtle notification in the top right corner of your screen just before a break is due. This will give you some time to finish what you're doing with minimal interruption.

Autostarting Breaks

When a break is set to be autostarting in Preferences, the Upcoming Break Notification is shown for a few seconds. After that it will automatically transition to the break window.

The Upcoming Break Notification offers three options:

  • Skip, will skip the break entirely
  • Hold, will pause the countdown to the break and wait for you to start it manually. This can be handy when you need some extra time to finish up.
  • Start, will skip the countdown and start the break immediately

Non-Autostarting Breaks

If a break is not set to be autostarting in Preferences, the Upcoming Break Notification will always start in "Hold" mode. This means that you manually have to press start for the break to start.

This is especially useful is you plan to have a longer break. In that case you may want to take a few minutes to finish up your work entirely before starting your break.

Upcoming Break Notification

The duration of the Upcoming Break Notification can be set in Preferences -> General.

It is also possible to disable it entirely, which will cause autostarting breaks to show immediately without giving you a heads-up notification.
